4 New Houston Area EMRs Step Up to Elevate Team Safety

Getting certified as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) is no easy task. But the hard work and commitment of Monument’s EMR-certified team members are key factors in building a safer work environment for all of us. An EMR certification gives an employee the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions on-site, prior to additional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) support. Monument is happy to congratulate our four new EMRs on their recent certifications!

With this in mind, we wanted to share some of the lessons we learned in working to achieve ISO 9001 certification for our Bayport site – and how we plan to build on these in doing the same at our newest facility in Port Arthur, Texas.

In 2014, Monument Chemical’s site in Belgium (Kallo) began producing Tetrahydrofuran (THF) to meet growing market demand. In the beginning, the Marketing and Production teams focused on lower-volume runs for technical applications to earn some market share. But their sights were set much higher: they were intent on becoming the THF supplier to top segments in the pharma, fragrance, and electronics industries.
Jon-Paul Leduc, Monument’s Business Development Manager, Europe, shares this tale of teamwork that led to a big win for the Kallo team.

And that’s exactly what the Brandenburg, Kentucky team recently accomplished, reducing sitewide Nitrogen usage to historic lows in 2021.

Ten years ago, if you would’ve asked Romain Vidal-Michel, Sr. Production Engineer/Operations Manager at Monument,what his fitness routine looked like, he wouldn’t have even said running — he’d tell you he jogs.
But that was then. Now, he’s clocked hundreds of competitive miles throughout his more-recent running career — from 10-milers, half marathons, fulls, and more. That impressive resume includes this past weekend, when he finished The Chevron Houston Marathon in 3:52, crushing his previous time of 4:18.
