WELL AWARE: October Focus: Breast Cancer Awareness — and Action
October 27th, 2025
Every October, we’re reminded to “think pink.” But awareness is only the first step — action is where the impact happens. Whether for yourself, a loved one, or your community, here are a few small but powerful ways to make a difference this month:
Know What’s Normal for You
Early detection starts with self-awareness. Take a few minutes to learn what’s typical for your body. Schedule your annual clinical exam, and if you’re 40 or older — or at higher risk — talk to your doctor about when to begin mammogram screenings.
Share What You Learn
Knowledge can be lifesaving. Remind friends and family about screenings, especially those who may put their health last. A simple text — “Have you scheduled your mammogram?” — can be the nudge someone needs.
Support with Purpose
There are many ways to help: donate to trusted organizations that fund research or patient care, volunteer for awareness events, or offer practical help to someone in treatment — rides, meals, or just time to listen.
Think Beyond October
Breast cancer awareness doesn’t end when the pink ribbons come down. Keep prevention on your radar year-round through healthy habits — regular exercise, balanced nutrition, stress management, and limiting alcohol — all shown to lower risk.
Awareness saves lives. Action changes them.
This month, take one small step — for yourself, for someone you love, or for the next generation — and make it count.
