Organizational Changes in the Monument Finance Team
February 16th, 2021
Monument Team,
I would like to announce some exciting changes to the Monument Finance organization.
Joel Swearingen, currently Monument Controller, has accepted a new role at The Heritage Group (THG) as Director, Corporate Finance and Accounting. For over a decade, Joel has served as a trusted partner in corporate accounting and finance, and THG will greatly benefit from the expertise and professionalism he brings to the strategic table.
Jacob Davis, currently Director, Corporate Finance and Accounting at THG, will join the Monument Finance team as Global Finance and Accounting Director. In this role, he will report to me and will provide financial leadership for the functions and business teams – working with the Finance team and across the business teams to help the company reach operational and strategic goals. Jacob joined THG in 2015, and in his most recent role, has provided excellent leadership in meeting the increasing demands for information and analysis as THG has continued to expand.
Luke Smith (FP&A Manager), Caryn Barnett (previously Accounting Manager; now Interim Controller) will report to Jacob, and Matt Overaker (Tax Manager) will report to me.
Jacob shares Monument’s passion for the growth of our employees, and the development of the Finance team will be a key focus for him in this new role.
Jacob and Joel will move into their new roles officially on March 1, although we expect the transition will occur over a several month timeframe. Both Joel and Jacob care deeply about their teams and will work together to ensure a smooth transition.
These changes represent a great opportunity to cross-pollinate expertise between THG and Monument – which will enhance our strong working relationships. We will continue to bet on our people – and provide growth and learning opportunities that allow team members to expand their breadth and depth of knowledge across the organization.
(Please see the attached memo from The Heritage Group for additional organizational updates in the broader team.)
Please join me in thanking Joel for his many contributions to Monument, in welcoming Jacob to the Monument team, and in wishing both Joel and Jacob much success in their new roles.
Bill
