Important Reminder about Ransomware Attacks

October 7th, 2021

As you likely are aware from various high profile news stories (like this one), ransomware attacks are on the rise and becoming more sophisticated with each defensive maneuver designed to address the most recent attacks. Hackers from all over the world are devising ways to enter our systems for any number of nefarious reasons, including but not limited to, locking down the system until a hefty ransom is paid and/or to steal sensitive information.

That's Why We Need YOUR Help and Vigilance!
While ITSS is constantly on guard against such attacks and continues to update our defenses, it is everyone’s responsibility to guard against such intrusions, as most breaches are the result of an individual employee clicking on a fake link in a phishing email.

Please stay vigilant with respect to emails you receive, even those you receive from people or organizations that you believe to be a trusted source. We recommend you take the initiative to refresh yourself on how to recognize phishing emails by accessing the relevant training modules provided by the company here.

Be alert as our company-wide phishing prevention campaign from ITSS will continue internal test emails - don’t take the bait! And remember, when in doubt, report it! If you notice anything suspicious, use the Phish Alarm button in Outlook to report it to the IT security team.

Your continued attention to this issue is greatly appreciated.
