A Message from Paul: How We Weathered Yet Another Challenge
March 2nd, 2021
Monument Team,
I couldn’t be prouder of the Monument employees at our Kentucky and three Houston Area sites for their incredible freeze preparation efforts and actions to keep our sites and teams safe through Winter Storm Uri. I am awed by and grateful for your dedication to each other, our communities, and our customers – it's what makes the Monument team so special.
Here are some key updates specifically for the Houston Area:
- Site Status: Baytown resumed full operations last Wednesday, and both Houston and Bayport are largely back to full operations. A big thank you again to our Ride Through Crews for their efforts to safely shut down the sites without any injuries. And, of course, I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in our return-to-operations. I know you’ve been working around the clock to do all that is needed for the company while issues for many loomed at home. And for the Bayport team, this work began immediately after all of your shutdown efforts earlier in February. Your dedication is much appreciated.
- Force Majeure: As a result of constraints experienced by some of our suppliers for key raw materials, we have communicated to our Kentucky and Houston site customers that our Products are under force majeure until the situation returns to normal conditions. We are also working with our Contract Manufacturing customers and managing their supply needs. Our Customer Service teams are diligently working in close coordination with the Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to provide clear communication and product supply plans to our customers, vendors, and logistics partners.
- Employee Relief: Last week – when the boil water order was still in effect – we were able to deliver bottled water (enough to fill two 18-wheeler trucks!) to employees who needed it. In addition, I would like to remind team members of the financial support available to employees impacted by the storm through the One Heritage Fund (www.oneheritagefund.com). The deadline to apply is May 18. You can also contact the Monument Employee Hotline at any time to request assistance at 855-564-2020, option 2.
We remain committed to helping our employees, their families, and our communities as they work to repair the damages caused by the storm.
As the Monument team continues to weather challenge after challenge, I am inspired by the many ways in which you go above and beyond – showcasing your flexibility, resilience, tenacity – and your care for each other.
Thank you for all you do, especially in our toughest hours. Stay safe.
Paul
