Monument Grows North American Custom Manufacturing Team to Boost Collaborative Possibilities

June 11th, 2018

“For the Monument team, Custom Manufacturing is an exciting world of possibilities,” said Deb Kovacs, Commercial Development Manager. “Many of our customers come to us with very specific challenges, and it’s deeply rewarding to be able to provide ‘key-in-lock’ solutions that allow them to push further with their own innovations.”

Deb’s passion for Custom Manufacturing is shared across the Monument team. From reactive distillation to EO/ PO alkoxylation, the Monument team prides itself on helping customers augment capacity, deliver quick-to-market product launches, and enable new end-use performance benefits.

“Our earliest roots lie in Custom Manufacturing, and our production sites are ideally located and fully equipped to provide the flexibility and responsiveness required in a Custom Manufacturing partnership,” said Bill Grube, Executive Vice President. “One long-term customer, for example, recently built a new plant that was producing off-spec material. We jumped in quickly to produce the exact specification they needed – and provided support in getting the new plant on its feet. These opportunities to turn headaches into sustainable solutions truly keep our fire lit, as well as strengthen our long-term relationships.”

When Monument started growing the Product side of its business, quite a few customers reached out to the team to ask if Monument was still committed to our Custom Manufacturing business. The answer was – and is – a resounding “yes!” As a matter of fact, Monument has been taking steps to grow its Custom Manufacturing presence and capabilities. Joining Amanda Muilenburg as part of the North American Custom Manufacturing team are: Deb Kovacs, Umair Virani, and Paul Marcellus.

“There are growth opportunities everywhere at Monument – for employees, for our customers, for their customers, and ultimately, for end-use consumers,” said Virani. “I started with Monument 10 years ago as an Analytical Chemist in Houston, and it’s exciting to now be in a position of direct contact with our customers – and to leverage all that I’ve learned through the years. My favorite partnerships begin with a surprising solution that solves a problem that the customer didn’t even know existed!”

Partnerships are a huge part of Monument’s success in the Custom Manufacturing space, and the team follows a thorough, collaborative process to get the best solution.

“Our process allows us to be both creative in our thinking, collaborative in our approach, and methodical in optimizing results,” said Paul. “And there’s also plenty of flexibility in that process to allow the partnership to evolve in the way that best suits our customers’ needs. Some customers want to work with us side-by-side, and others want to give us the ball, so we can run with it. Either way, we’ve got their back and deliver winning results.”

“We’re working hard to be even more visible in the industry and to spread the word about what we can do,” said Bill. “All we see in front of us are possibilities, and we’re eager to keep growing our customer base, so that we can tackle even more exciting challenges in the months and years ahead.”
