Monument Houston Continues to Raise the Bar for Safety, Achieving Its 6th Pinnacle Award
June 5th, 2024
The Monument Houston team has made a habit out of achieving excellence. But even though it's something we’ve made a standard, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth celebrating! Especially when this kind of excellence involves the commitment to safely transporting chemicals by rail across the country — a simple concept that involves an incredible amount of effort from every member of our team.
For the sixth year in a row, Monument Houston has earned the prestigious Union Pacific Pinnacle Award, recognizing a dedication to the safe transportation of chemicals and protection of the environment and communities along our rail network.
As one of just 137 organizations recognized this year, the achievement highlights our ability to achieve zero non-accident releases of hazardous materials (NARs), spills, missing plugs, etc. — all of which can be identified through comprehensive inspections and audits.
“We’re extremely proud of our team and the collaborative effort invested every day to achieve this excellence over and over again,” Roberto Castaneda, Monument Chemical Houston Shipping Manager, shared. “While this commitment never wavers, our team continues to find new ways to step up and make this achievement even more meaningful for our company and our customers.”
Despite 2023 bringing a variety of logistical challenges and internal changes that required a multitude of additional hiring and training responsibilities, the Monument team received high praise from custom manufacturing customers and partner sales reps at the speed in which our team gets their material out the door after processing.
“Our ability to overcome challenges and continue to hit such a high standard of operations is a true reflection of the level of care and pride our team has in the work they do,” Roberto added. “When everyone in the field is working as one unit, an increase in production and safety are a natural consequence. Safe shipment of Monument materials on public roads and rails is a priority everyone on our team is proud to enforce year after year. It’s an integral part of our journey as a leader in the industry and as a reliable partner to our customers in all the areas that matter most.”
