Around the Clock: How Monument Is Expanding Flexibility for Customers in the Gulf Coast
July 23rd, 2026
Flexibility has always been important in the chemical industry, but today, it's more important than ever. As customer demand continues to grow and supply chains become increasingly dynamic, Monument is investing in the capabilities needed to deliver the best customer experience possible.
That's why Monument has expanded logistics operations at its Port Arthur, Texas, facility to a 24/7 operating schedule.
"As volumes have continued to grow, we recognized it was time for Port Arthur to take the next step," said Umair Virani, Senior Director, Custom Manufacturing. "Expanding to 24/7 logistics allows us to better utilize the site's capabilities while delivering greater flexibility, increased responsiveness and more shipping options.”
How Customers Benefit
As we all know, in the chemical industry, plans can change quickly! Production schedules shift. Transportation windows move. Unexpected needs arise.
Operating around the clock gives Monument greater flexibility to respond to the ongoing change and challenge our customers face.
Instead of limiting many logistics activities to traditional business hours, Port Arthur work can now continue overnight, allowing railcar loading and product transfers to take place without competing with daytime truck loading. That means greater efficiency within the facility and more scheduling flexibility for customers.
“Whether responding to updated order timing, accommodating transportation availability, or helping customers reduce on-site inventory, the expanded schedule gives Monument more ways to meet customers where they are,” said Jason McDuff, Senior Director,Customer Experience. “Ultimately, it's about making Monument easier to do business with. The more flexible and responsive we can be, the better we can support our customers as their needs evolve."
Powered by People
The transition has been more than a year in the making, bringing together teams across commercial, customer service, production, logistics, human resources and operations. From planning and hiring to training and implementation, every function played a role in preparing the site for continuous operations.
Plans and processes were only part of the equation. Bringing 24/7 operations to life required people who were willing to embrace change. For many employees, the move meant transitioning from traditional daytime shifts to rotating schedules to support 24/7 operations.
"I'm incredibly proud of how our team approached this transition," said Vernon Harris, Operations Manager. "People understood why this investment mattered – for our customers, for the site, and for Monument's future – and they stepped up to make it happen."
That commitment is part of what has fueled Port Arthur's continued growth since joining the Monument network.
"This win is result of people across the site and Monument working toward a common goal," said Ian Quinn, Site Leader, Port Arthur. "Every improvement we've made at Port Arthur has been about building a stronger operation for our customers, and this is another important step forward."
Built for What's Next
While 24/7 logistics is an important milestone at Port Arthur and for Monument’s Gulf Coast customers, we see it as another step in boosting our capabilities for the future.
"Every investment we make is focused on strengthening how we serve our customers today while preparing for future growth," said Maria Kraemer Gutierrez, Senior Director of Operations and Supply Chain. "This gives us a stronger foundation to support our customers with greater flexibility, responsiveness, and operational excellence for years to come."
As Port Arthur continues to evolve, Monument's focus remains the same: listening to customers, investing in the capabilities that matter most, and being the kind of partner customers can count on – day or night!
