Monument Volunteers Come Together to Support Our Local Communities

November 29th, 2023

November 13 to 17, 87 Monument Chemical employees representing all US sites came together to volunteer for approx. 307 hours for our "United for Service" event. This year's theme was again food scarcity, and our eager volunteers worked at area food banks and community pantries, stuffed snack kits for local children, and more! It was a wonderful day of fun, togetherness, and giving. Thank you to our incredible volunteers!

11 Bayport employees partnered with Bay Area Assistance League to assemble 350 snack kits for Texas City ISD students. Each kit contained a juice, microwaveable spaghetti meal, fruit gummies, Rice Krispies treat, granola bar, and utensils. Teachers distributed the snack kits to students who needed snacks over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Houston site volunteers worked in the Houston Bank warehouse – inspecting, sorting, and repackaging donated food items for distribution. The Houston Bank is America’s largest food bank in distribution leading hunger relief in 18 southeast Texas counties.

A team of Houston Area employees partnered with Hearts and Hands of Baytown to box 1,125 lbs of food and bagged over 1,200 oranges. Hearts and Hands provides food for families in a dignified and supportive manner while providing a comprehensive approach in providing supporting services with collaborating partnerships that not only work to eradicate hunger but also address the underlying issues. The team didn’t forget the local puppy dogs – also bagging a LOT of dry dog food!

Another team of Houston employees assembled 300 snack kits for the Deer Park school district. These snacks were sent home with children over Thanksgiving break.

Houston Area employees partnered with the City of Pasadena and collected 472 lbs of non-perishable food items which were distributed to several organizations.

Port Arthur employees collected food for 4 families identified by the Garth House, which provides support for physically and emotionally abused children. We also presented them with a check for $5,000 from The Heritage Group, which will be used for their building expansion. Port Arthur employees also worked with The Hospitality Center and served approximately 200 citizens a nutritional hot meal and prepared about 300 to go lunches which were distributed to local homeless.

The Haltermann Solutions team, part of the Monument Renewables & Fuels business) prepared 300+ snack kits for the Greenspoint YMCA, and the kits were served to children in their after-school program.

Baytown assembled 200 snack kits for LaPorte ISD.

Brandenburg volunteers packed 440 food boxes for seniors at Feeding America Kentucky’s Heartland Bank. The site also hosted a food drive that was shared with Community Action in Brandenburg.

The Indy team put together 200 snack kits for the Horizon House.

Thank you again to all of our incredible Monument volunteers for making a real difference in the communities we serve!
