Teamwork in Action: JP-10 Contract Kicks Off with Precision and Speed

August 6th, 2025

Winning the U.S. Department of Defense JP-10 fuel contract was just the beginning – our teams immediately jumped into action to meet two urgent priorities from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA):

  1. Transfer all JP-10 inventory from the previous supplier, Dixie Chemical, to Monument Baytown (~20 truckloads)
  2. Prepare, test, and secure approval for Monument’s own 92,500 gallons of JP-10 so it could be invoiced in July

The clock was ticking – and much of this work took place around the July 4th holiday period.

Challenge 1: Transferring Dixie’s Inventory to Monument

  • Cody Sanders and Vernon Harris expedited critical tank repairs at Baytown while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Each truckload from Dixie required a signed government form transferring ownership to Monument. Angie Prazak ensured all quantities were verified, forms signed, and submissions made to DLA within 24 to 48 hours of arrival. And Cody’s detailed receipts and quantity tracking made this process smooth.
  • Daniel Lucio and Helen Waguespack managed logistics to meet tight timelines and Dixie’s limited loading schedule.

Challenge 2: Preparing Monument’s Own JP-10 Batch

  • Brissa De Anda prepared government shipping and invoice forms, secured QAR approvals, and made sure Monument’s batch could be invoiced before month-end. When the government requested a next-day shipment from the newly received Dixie inventory, she made it happen.
  • Jarvis Brown and Daniel Cooper coordinated timely testing and Certificates of Analysis for both the transferred Dixie inventory and Monument’s own batch. With just three days’ notice, they also supported a last-minute QAR lab visit to witness testing on Monument’s batch – resulting in full approval for sale.

The Result:
All Dixie inventory was transferred, tested, documented, and reported to the DLA on time. Monument’s own batch received QAR approval and was invoiced in July.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for your precision, persistence, and problem-solving under pressure. This effort not only met the DLA’s strict requirements but also set the tone for our successful execution of the new JP-10 contract.
