Strengthening Our Gulf Coast Operations
September 8th, 2025
Monument Texas Team,
Over the past several months, we’ve been thoroughly reviewing how we can better connect and strengthen our Gulf Coast operations. With a heavy workload, increasing contractor expenses, and opportunities to build more expertise in-house, it became clear that we needed to centralize functions, find synergies, and create more consistent ways of working across our sites.
After careful consideration, we are making the following changes to bolster our teams:
Engineering Team
The Gulf Coast Process Technology will continue to be led by Nick Mohasel. Nick will provide technical leadership and support to ensure operations meet quality, cost, and efficiency standards. His key responsibilities include enhancing yields, process capability, safety, and quality, as well as supporting the scale-up and implementation of new processes and products. Nick’s technical expertise will be leveraged as we start integrating Port Arthur, with Dan Smith, Sr Process Design Engineer, reporting as a dotted line to him. Romain Vidal-Michel and the process safety engineers (once hired) will continue reporting to him.
Gulf Coast Project Execution will be led by Tom Del Prato, who will oversee the complete execution of capital projects at our Gulf Coast sites. He will be responsible for coordinating across stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery from the design stage through construction and implementation. Joel Griffin (Solvents) and contractors (Renewables) will be reporting to him. Tom will maintain his capital process responsibilities and engagement with all Monument sites.
Nick and Tom will be reporting to me and will work closely with Business Directors. Maria Kraemer and Kurt Griffith will also report to me – for both Solvents and Renewables & Fuels, respectively.
Solvents Engineering will be led by Mike Woerner, focusing on detailed process design and daily plant support. He will collaborate with Process Technology and Project Execution as needed, while continuing to support the Solvents area and reporting to Maria Kraemer. Mike will oversee Process Engineers, Process Control Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers, and remain committed to developing his team with a long-term goal of integrating with the Renewables & Fuel team.
Supply & Operations Planning
To continue building and strengthening our Gulf area, the Supply Chain will continue to be led by James Horton. James’ expertise and mentoring will be shared with Helen Waguespack, Production Scheduler & Outplant Manager, to elevate Renewables S&OP processes. Port Arthur will now have a dotted line to James. Helen will continue to manage outplant blending facilities for Specialty Fuels.
As part of these changes, Philip Sprague, currently serving as Baytown’s Lab Manager/Environmental Lead, will assume a broader role as Houston Area Environmental Specialist – and will report to Maria.
Specialty Fuels will remain separate, led by Angie Prazak, now Operations & Logistics Manager. Angie will continue to report to Kurt, and Daniel Lucio will report to Angie.
These changes are designed to help us work smarter together – leveraging synergies, building a stronger bench, and supporting our shared success as we continue to grow.
Thank you for your commitment and adaptability as we move forward.
Adam Pingel
Vice President, Global Operations & Supply Chain
