Kris Sturgul Accepts New Role in Business Excellence Leading Special Projects
June 13th, 2023
The Bayport team has been through a whirlwind of change over the past few years – and has delivered impressive improvements and wins every step of the way. A huge component of their success has been an unwavering commitment to Business Excellence improvements – and finding resourceful, creative ways to do things better. Kris Sturgul, currently Bayport Site Leader, has led the charge in Bayport’s incredible transformation and commitment to continuous improvement. To continue to build upon her incredible impact to the site, Kris has accepted a new role to oversee various projects under the Business Excellence umbrella for the Houston Area. In this role, she will lead a range of Operational, Financial, and Commercial improvement efforts.
Listing Kris’ countless contributions to Bayport’s success would take up more room than we have here, but here are some highlights of the impact of her leadership through the site’s transformation:
- Zero recordable injuries or LOPCs despite the many challenges of transformation!
- Excellent management of change – From structural changes to large-scale capital projects, Kris has guided the team through every transition and challenge.
- Significant reliability improvements – Reduction of unplanned events from 30%+ (when Bayport joined Monument) to approximately 6%.
- Boosted site earnings – Bayport has transformed from a site that wasn’t yet profitable to a team that is now contributing significantly to Monument’s growth and earnings.
- Community Involvement – The Bayport team is a shining example of a close partnership with the local community, from philanthropic efforts to Kris’ leadership and participation on the Bay Area Community Advisory Panel.
Through every challenge and win, Kris has showcased her commitment to collaboration – across teams, sites, and functions – and she has encouraged everyone around her to get the right people at the table to maximize the team’s success in every project and ambitious target. Kris’ collaborative approach and encouragement of open-minded, creative thinking will continue to serve the Bayport team well in this next chapter of her career at Monument.
Until Kris’ replacement is identified, I will assume responsibilities as Interim Site Leader for Bayport, beginning today.
Please join me in thanking Kris for her incredible contributions and leadership at Bayport – and in wishing her much luck in this new role.
Best Regards,
Maria Kraemer
