Introducing Paul Raymond as New CEO of Monument

June 25th, 2020

Dear Monument Family,

The last few months have undoubtedly been one of the most interesting chapters in Monument’s history – filled with unprecedented challenges, new opportunities, and countless examples of teams and employees going Above & Beyond in all we do. Today, as part of this unique chapter in our journey, we are eager to share with you the exciting news that Paul Raymond will be joining us as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Monument Chemical, effective July 13.

Paul is an outstanding global leader with a proven track record in enhancing business performance through sales growth and improved business execution. His expertise is a mix of specialty materials technical knowledge, operational experience, strategic leadership – and he is broadly recognized as a strong developer of the people in his organizations. Paul knows first-hand the importance of building collaborative teams to reach new markets and customers – and his leadership will ensure we continue to seize new opportunities for growth.

Paul joins us from Sonneborn, a New Jersey-based world leader in the manufacture and supply of high-purity white oils and specialty hydrocarbons, where he served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Board Member. Prior to that, he was President of the Ashland Inc. Water Technologies business, and was part of the team that led the massive project of integrating Hercules when it was purchased by Ashland. At Hercules, he served as President of the Hercules Paper Technologies and Ventures business. Paul has also held a range of leadership roles at Honeywell and General Electric, and throughout his career, has collected diverse geographic experience in Asia, Europe, and North America.

In the recent past, Paul served as an executive consultant for The Heritage Group on a range of key projects. It was clear from the very beginning of our relationship that Paul’s leadership and team-oriented approach would be an excellent fit for us – and Paul was equally quick to voice his immediate connection to our close-knit culture and flexible thinking. On a personal note, Paul is open, warm, and deeply committed to helping his team members shine. His sharp intelligence is paired with a fantastic sense of humor, and he has some interesting pastimes and passions that we’ll let Paul tell you more about when he introduces himself to you. Once Paul joins the team, he’ll be eager to learn more about all you do, and as a boots-on-the-ground kind of leader, he’ll have an open ear to your challenges, ideas, and feedback.

Moving forward, Bill will remain as the EVP of Finance and Business Development and continue as a trusted business partner & owner.

Circling back to our opening thought… This interesting chapter in Monument’s history has seen every one of you using your exceptional talents to push past challenges and grab onto new opportunities with astonishing speed and expertise. Paul’s leadership will be another shining opportunity that will allow us to accelerate our success – throughout this unique chapter and well beyond.

Please join us in giving Paul a warm welcome to our Monument family.

Bill and Amy
