A Memo from Adam: Additional Coronavirus Information for Operations Team

March 15th, 2020

Monument Operations Team,

I wanted to follow up on Bill’s note with some additional information for the Global Operations team about our latest coronavirus (COVID-19) actions.

As Bill mentioned, starting Tuesday, March 17, we will go into Operations Essential mode, meaning that only Operations Essential personnel will be on-site at each Monument plant. This includes our shift team personnel, as well as anyone else notified that they are Operations Essential for business-critical activities. This could include maintenance, R&D, HSE personnel, etc. In short, some individuals may be asked to be on a rotation schedule depending on their role. (See additional details in Bill’s note)

Our ability to keep our plants operating not only ensures Monument’s ability to endure these challenges, but also means that we are playing a critical role in preventing shortages of a wide range of essential consumer goods – including the cleaning and sanitizing supplies that are currently disappearing from store shelves.

As you know, this is an evolving situation, with changes happening every day. I want you to know that our planning team is all over this, and we aren’t waiting for the latest news to guide our actions. We are taking proactive steps to prepare for a broad range of scenarios, including the possible need for plant shutdowns (and a skeleton crew), as well as the unfortunate circumstances of how we make fast and smart adjustments should a member of our Operations Essential crew become ill.

While we have already stepped up our cleaning measures, we are also working with several decontamination vendors to plan for thorough deep cleaning and disinfection in the event of a suspected case of coronavirus on-site. (Plant teams will be briefed on these plans shortly.)

We will continue to hold our plant-specific regular / daily / weekly meetings, so that we can hear your questions and stay closely connected to the needs of our teams – and move swiftly to take all actions needed. While “social distancing” is certainly a big phrase these days, we must act as a closely-connected and unified team today more than ever.

As with our regular commitment to safety, every single one of us has a role to play in keeping our team healthy and safe. Please continue to take all precautions, including proper hand-washing, maintaining as much physical distance between people as possible, and staying home if you are experiencing symptoms – or have been near someone who is experiencing symptoms.

As Bill mentioned, you can expect communications to be frequent, as this situation is extremely fluid. I thank you for your ongoing support in these unprecedented challenges.

Please reach out to your respective Site Leader and/or HR for additional information.

Be safe,

Adam
